In our education, business, and social lives, there is a time to plant and a time to harvest. Harvesting is primarily the reward for those who have planted. As it says in Proverbs 6:10-11 (NIV), “A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of hands to rest, and poverty will come on you like a thief, and scarcity like an armed man.” You can only reap where you have sown; if you haven’t invested much in your social life, you cannot expect to gain much from friends and family. Sowing in business is not the same as sowing in social relationships.

Be anxious for nothing, but work hard and discern the seasons. If something doesn’t work today, it will surely work tomorrow.

Do not pray for a harvest when you have not planted; instead, pray for what you have planted to multiply and yield great fruit. There is a significant difference between these two prayers (Philippians 4:6, NIV).

God does not advocate laziness: This is evident in the activity of other living things—birds, animals, insects, etc.—which all demonstrate diligence.

The heavens proclaim Your greatness, and nature testifies to Your diligence. You are a great King, and all good things come from You. The world belongs to our Lord, but who will feed the lazy? I have resolved to live a contented life: I plant in season and pray for the harvest. Sometimes, the ground is barren, and it yields no fruit. I do not get discouraged, for I know that my time of favor will come. At times, I may face rejection, but just as Isaac did not get disheartened when the Philistines contended with him over the wells, I will work hard, knowing that Your grace will surely make room for me to flourish. I understand that there is a time to sow, a time to harvest, a time to wait, and a time to run. Therefore, my hope is in You. O Lord, You will bless the work of my hands. I strive each day, but You, Lord, are my true blessing! Please do not be far from me. When troubles arise, hide me in the hollow of Your hand. There is a season for everything under the sun, but only You, O God, can strengthen my heart. Please protect me from uncertainty. I will praise Your name among my brethren in the great Christian assembly. Amen.
