Let’s begin!

Module 1: Christianity

No city is as glorious as Christianity in all the worlds, and we are yet to attain its full potential. We are still to reach the glory of true Christianity.

Christianity started as something insignificant that could not prevail due to religious, cultural, social, and even political opposition. It was called “the sect in Jerusalem.” (Acts 28:22 NIV; Acts 24:14 NIV) God fought for this so-called sect with an outstretched arm throughout generations. Despite many persecutions, Christianity was unstoppable because it is from God, just like Gamaliel told those who opposed it. (Acts 5:34–39 NIV)

Despite the wars, cultural and political opposition, Christianity kept growing. The Lord gave courage and bravery to our brethren and matured them throughout the ages. They never lost hope, even though many suffered from uncivilized societies, barbaric cultures, and dark ages.

We are grateful to God for keeping the flame of hope in their hearts and for protecting the city—no human hand could touch it. It is miraculous how Christianity reached this modern age despite all oppositions (social, political, cultural, and spiritual). It passed through fire but was not burned.

Today, it has become the most significant religion, even though it started like a mustard seed. Christianity passed through storms, fire, and wars but was not consumed. All these adversities left us with scars, just like a man of many battles has scars. The scars are due to many challenges, such as religious conflicts, political opposition, social and cultural harassment.

The fathers did what they could, but many people died on the way, and despite their goodwill, many Bible interpretations were affected.

Internal conflicts divided Christianity. Some people had good intentions, while others sought power, fame, and wealth. Everyone with their secret agenda created divisions. In all this confusion, everybody ran after what they believed was better, saying, “Half bread is better than none,” and “It is better to be in a sinking boat than in the open sea.”

All this confusion is the handiwork of the devil, for if Christianity ever gets to its full glory, nothing in this world will be able to withstand its influence.

We believe that God is in the process of rebuilding everything. For this to happen, we need to reevaluate everything that has occurred, similar to seeking guidance from a therapist. We must examine the journey without attributing blames but instead by focusing on finding solutions. We should consider what events occurred along the way, what influenced our changes, and what led to our current divisions. At what point in time were these factors affected?

We need to contemplate the reasons for allowing Christianity to become intertwined with our nation’s politics or cultural values. Was it meant to integrate into the nation’s culture or political life fully? What went wrong, and which aspects of tradition or politics did we blend with Christianity that affected its identity? Do we still remember Christianity’s true identity?

What would we do differently if we revisited the apostles’ teachings?

Despite facing threats, wars, and opposition that have attempted to diminish the value of Christianity, we believe that God can rectify everything now. We plead for a complete restoration because Christianity has evolved and has gained prominence in world politics and ethics, becoming a powerful force.

We can initiate this process with unity, which is considered strength. If we are united, we can significantly impact world politics and electoral processes: No Christian, regardless of their location, would be persecuted or taken for granted. We will be able to influence world societies and businesses. Together, we are stronger.

However, change, as they say, begins from within. It is time to cleanse Christianity from within.

Many religions serve as social tools rather than genuine spirituality. Political and community leaders use them to integrate societies and heal social wounds. Christianity stands out due to its spiritual nature—it is the life of God in man.

It transcends cultural, social, traditional, and racial boundaries. It is intended for everyone and offers a personal relationship with God through Christ. However, we still need to explore its potential for a full social impact.

Christianity and Diversity

In our diverse world, most people want to preserve their cultural identity. Diversity is powerful and unifying. So, where does Christianity fit into this cultural diversity? Culture and tradition represent the lifestyle of a specific group of people, passed down over the years. It is important not to lose this identity; God doesn’t want us to lose what is good. Whatever good things were passed down by our forefathers are accepted by God. (James 1:17 NIV) Culture refers to what our forefathers deemed suitable to be transmitted to us as tradition. God is not against noble, moral, and ethical traditions, as seen in the example of the Rechabites (Jeremiah 35:2–14 NIV), who jealously kept the traditions of their forefathers. (Jeremiah 35:10 NIV)

People are shaped by life events and the spiritual world, which influence their culture and traditions. While idol worship was once prevalent in many cultures, the concept of “civilization” has significantly changed that. Even the Israelites had cultural principles from Moses that later served as symbols for the advent of Christianity.

As time progresses, traditions must evolve to align with modernity (which is constantly changing) while maintaining their identity. Failure to do so may result in traditions becoming outdated and counterproductive. For instance, what would have happened if a particular part of the world had rejected the industrial revolution?

Christianity aligns with the positive values of traditions in the modern world but not with practices and symbols from the past that cannot even be assimilated into contemporary society.

True Christianity is the only “religion” adapted to modernity. It doesn’t need to progress; we are the ones who need to progress toward understanding its real meaning.

The Devil’s Schemes

The confusion and divisions in Christianity are schemes of the devil. This is similar to what happened in the story of Israel: When the Moabites were unable to curse Israel, they enticed them to sin, as mentioned in Numbers 25:1-3 (NIV). A similar deceptive situation is seen with the Gibeonites as described in Joshua 9:3–27 (NIV).

The Believer’s Glory

Christianity is a mystery that appeared in the spirit realm. It is portrayed as a woman clothed with the sun and the moon under her feet. (Revelation 12:1 NIV) Despite attempts to destroy her, she cannot be overcome as God protects her until time gives way to eternity. (Revelation 12:6 NIV) Therefore, no darkness can rule over us for we are of the day.
